I am directed by Mr. Secretary McKenna to

say for the information of Mr. Secretary Harcourt that

last year an application for the grant of a Certificate

of Naturalisation was made by Harry Rudolf Willien

Wehrenberg, who was born in Germany of German parert s

on 17th August 1893, and was brought over to this

Country at the age of two months. The reports on him

were favourable, and Mr. McKenna decided in October

1913

best to grant a Certificate. Wehrenberg, who is a

Beaman, sailing in British ships, had however left

the Country on a three years voyage before the miter

could be completed by the taking of the oath of

allegiance: he is therefore not a British Subject at

the present time, but a German Subject unless he has

lost his German nationality.

now been forwarded to the Home Office by the Heroantila

Marine Office Superintendent at West Hartlepool, one

of them being addressed to his stepfather.
